Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add buttermilk and mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times.
  6. Roll or pat dough to about 2 cm thickness and cut into rounds.
  7. Bring water and baking soda to a gentle simmer.
  8. Dip each biscuit into the baking soda bath briefly and place on baking sheet.
  9. Sprinkle tops with coarse salt.
  10. Bake for 12–15 minutes until deep golden brown.
  11. Melt butter and mix with honey.
  12. Brush warm biscuits with honey butter before serving.
