Oven Baked Potato Chips are crispy, golden, and lightly seasoned homemade chips baked with less oil than traditional fried versions. These crunchy chips are easy to customize and perfect for snacking or serving alongside meals.

Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Garlic powder (optional seasoning)
  • Paprika (optional seasoning)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional seasoning)
  • Dried herbs (optional seasoning)
  • Chili powder (optional seasoning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly.
  4. Slice the potatoes very thinly using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer.
  5. Place the potato slices in a bowl of cold water for 20 minutes to remove excess starch.
  6. Drain and pat the slices completely dry with paper towels.
  7. Place the potato slices in a large bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Arrange the slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets without overlapping.
  9. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  10. Watch carefully near the end of baking to prevent burning.
  11. Allow the chips to cool slightly before serving, as they become crispier while cooling.

Notes

  • Use sweet potatoes for a sweeter variation.
  • Add Parmesan cheese and garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle with chili powder or cayenne for spicy chips.
  • Rosemary or thyme add a delicious herb flavor.
  • Soaking the potatoes helps create crispier chips.
  • Store chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat briefly in the oven if chips lose crispness.
