Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix butter, garlic, parsley, and salt until well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. Sprinkle cheese on top if using.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden and butter is melted.
  7. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes for a crispier top if desired.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  9. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use olive oil instead of butter for a lighter version.
  • Add Italian seasoning or oregano for extra flavor.
  • Roasted garlic provides a milder, sweeter taste.
  • Store leftovers for up to 2 days at room temperature or refrigerate longer.
  • Reheat in oven for best texture, avoid microwaving.
  • Try a mix of cheeses for a richer variation.
