These Campfire Cinnamon Rollups are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in buttery cinnamon sugar. Perfect for camping trips or backyard bonfires, they’re a fun and easy outdoor treat everyone will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough or biscuit dough
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar glaze, cream cheese icing, chopped nuts, caramel drizzle

Instructions

  1. Build a campfire and allow it to burn until you have steady hot coals rather than large flames.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Melt the butter in a separate bowl.
  4. Separate the dough into strips and stretch each slightly.
  5. Wrap each strip of dough around a clean roasting stick or skewer, leaving a small gap between layers so the dough cooks evenly.
  6. Hold the dough over the campfire coals, rotating slowly to cook evenly on all sides.
  7. Continue roasting until the dough is golden brown and cooked through, about 8–12 minutes depending on the heat.
  8. Carefully slide the cooked rollups off the sticks.
  9. Brush each rollup with melted butter and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  10. Add any optional toppings and serve warm.

Notes

  • Cook over hot coals instead of open flames to prevent burning.
  • Crescent roll dough creates a softer texture while biscuit dough makes thicker rollups.
  • Pizza dough can be used for a chewier variation.
  • Add mini chocolate chips or apple pie filling for extra flavor.
  • These rollups are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
  • Metal skewers or heat-safe camping sticks work best for roasting.
