Avocado Crema is a smooth and creamy sauce made with ripe avocados, lime juice, garlic, and yogurt or sour cream blended into a flavorful topping. This refreshing sauce is perfect for tacos, burritos, grilled meats, salads, bowls, and dipping.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons water
  • Optional: jalapeño
  • Optional: hot sauce
  • Optional: cumin
  • Optional: green onions

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor.
  2. Add the sour cream or Greek yogurt, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, and salt.
  3. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Transfer the crema to a bowl or airtight container.
  7. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to use.
