Viral Dumpling Lasagna is a creative baked casserole that replaces traditional lasagna noodles with frozen dumplings layered with marinara sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted cheese. This easy, comforting dish delivers all the flavors of classic lasagna with minimal prep work.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (24 ounces) frozen cheese or meat-filled dumplings
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 pound cooked ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach (optional)
  • Sautéed mushrooms (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, and parsley.
  4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce across the bottom of the baking dish.
  5. Arrange half of the frozen dumplings in a single layer.
  6. Spoon half of the ricotta mixture over the dumplings.
  7. Sprinkle with one-third of the mozzarella cheese.
  8. Add another layer of marinara sauce.
  9. Repeat with the remaining dumplings, ricotta mixture, and another third of the mozzarella cheese.
  10. Top with the remaining marinara sauce.
  11. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and all of the Parmesan cheese over the top.
  12. Cover the dish with foil.
  13. Bake for 30 minutes.
  14. Remove the foil and continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  15. Allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  16. Garnish with additional parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Frozen dumplings can be used directly from the freezer without thawing.
  • Add cooked ground beef, sausage, spinach, or mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
  • Alfredo, vodka sauce, or meat sauce can be substituted for marinara.
  • Assemble up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • Freeze baked or unbaked casserole for up to 3 months.
  • Serve with garlic bread, Caesar salad, or roasted vegetables.
