Turkish Pasta is a comforting dish featuring tender pasta topped with seasoned ground beef, creamy garlic yogurt, and a warm paprika butter sauce. The contrast of cool yogurt and savory spiced meat creates a flavorful meal that is perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • Pasta such as farfalle, shells, or penne
  • Ground beef or ground lamb
  • Olive oil
  • Onion, finely chopped
  • Garlic, minced
  • Plain Greek yogurt
  • Butter
  • Paprika
  • Aleppo pepper or crushed red pepper flakes
  • Ground cumin
  • Dried oregano
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente.
  2. Reserve a small amount of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet and cook the onion until softened, then stir in half of the garlic.
  4. Add the ground beef or lamb and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles.
  5. Season the meat with cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper, then cook until fragrant.
  6. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with the remaining garlic and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  7. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and stir in the paprika and Aleppo pepper or crushed red pepper flakes, cooking briefly until aromatic.
  8. Toss the cooked pasta with a splash of the reserved pasta water if needed.
  9. Spread the garlic yogurt over the pasta, spoon the seasoned meat on top, and drizzle with the warm paprika butter.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ground chicken or turkey can be substituted for a lighter version.
  • Add sautéed spinach or roasted vegetables for extra nutrition.
  • Top with crumbled feta cheese for additional richness.
  • Adjust the amount of Aleppo pepper to suit your preferred spice level.
  • Store the pasta, meat, and yogurt sauce separately in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Do not freeze the yogurt sauce, as its texture may change after thawing.
  • Reheat the pasta and meat separately, then assemble with chilled yogurt and freshly warmed paprika butter before serving.
