  • 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced

  4. Layer the lettuce on the bottom half of each croissant.
  5. Add several slices of deli turkey over the lettuce.
  6. Top with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  7. Add the tomato slices, red onion, and pickle slices if using.

  10. Close each sandwich with the top half of the croissant and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Oven-roasted deli turkey works especially well for this sandwich.
  • Substitute Swiss with provolone, cheddar, Havarti, mozzarella, or Monterey Jack.
  • Add bacon, pesto, honey mustard, cranberry sauce, cucumber, spinach, or arugula for delicious variations.
  • Store the fillings separately from the croissants and assemble just before serving for the best texture.
  • Refrigerate prepared fillings in airtight containers for up to 3 days.
  • For a warm sandwich, heat it in a 325°F (165°C) oven for 4–5 minutes until the cheese softens, then add fresh vegetables.
