This Tuna Croissant Sandwich combines flaky, buttery croissants with a creamy tuna salad made with crisp vegetables and fresh herbs. It’s a quick, satisfying meal that’s perfect for lunch, brunch, picnics, or a light dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 large croissants, sliced in half
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 celery stalks, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the drained tuna in a large mixing bowl and gently flake it with a fork.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, then mix well.
  3. Stir in the diced celery, chopped red onion, and fresh parsley until evenly combined.
  4. Refrigerate the tuna salad for 15–20 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  5. Slice the croissants in half horizontally.
  6. Layer lettuce leaves on the bottom half of each croissant.
  7. Spoon a generous amount of tuna salad onto the lettuce.
  8. Add tomato slices if desired.
  9. Top with the remaining croissant halves and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Solid white albacore tuna provides a firm texture, while chunk light tuna also works well.
  • Add chopped dill pickles, sweet relish, capers, grapes, apples, dried cranberries, or chopped nuts for extra flavor and texture.
  • Substitute part or all of the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • Store the tuna salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Keep the croissants separate and assemble just before serving to prevent sogginess.
  • Freezing the prepared tuna salad is not recommended.
