Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons toasted buckwheat groats
  • 2 cups water
  • Optional: honey or sweetener
  • Optional: slice of lemon

Instructions

  1. If not already toasted, heat a dry pan over medium heat and toast buckwheat groats for 3–5 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Bring water to a boil in a small pot.
  3. Add toasted buckwheat to the boiling water.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and strain into cups.
  6. Add honey or lemon if desired.
  7. Serve warm or let cool for an iced version.

Notes

  • Add ginger slices or cinnamon for extra flavor.
  • Mix with green tea for a blended drink.
  • Use more buckwheat for a stronger brew.
  • Refrigerate leftovers for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat gently or enjoy chilled.
  • Buckwheat groats can be reused once for a lighter tea.
