Ingredients

  • 2 Chilean sea bass fillets
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, optional for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the Chilean sea bass fillets dry and season lightly with salt and black pepper.
  2. Place the fish on a heatproof plate that fits inside a steamer basket.
  3. Top the fish with sliced ginger, garlic, and green onions.
  4. Drizzle soy sauce, sesame oil, and lemon juice over the fillets.
  5. Fill a pot or steamer with water and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  6. Place the steamer basket over the simmering water and cover tightly.
  7. Steam the fish for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Carefully remove the plate from the steamer.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the sea bass, as it can dry out quickly.
  • Lime or orange juice can be substituted for lemon juice for a citrus variation.
  • Add sliced chili peppers for a spicy version.
  • Serve with rice, steamed vegetables, or noodles for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be gently reheated by steaming or warming in a covered skillet.
