Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or basil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 12 ounces pasta of choice

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute, without browning.
  3. Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook briefly to release their flavor.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste to the pan.
  5. Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Simmer the sauce for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Cook the pasta according to package instructions while the sauce simmers.
  8. Drain the pasta and toss it with the arrabbiata sauce until evenly coated.
