This Smashed Burrata with Jam and Pistachios is an elegant appetizer featuring creamy burrata, sweet fruit jam, crunchy pistachios, and a drizzle of olive oil. It comes together in minutes and offers a beautiful balance of creamy, sweet, savory, and crunchy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fresh burrata cheese
  • 1/4 cup fruit jam (fig, apricot, raspberry, cherry, or peach)
  • 1/4 cup shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves or fresh thyme (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon hot honey (optional)
  • Toasted bread, crostini, or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the burrata on a serving plate or shallow platter.
  2. Gently press the burrata with the back of a spoon to split it open and spread the creamy center.
  3. Spoon the fruit jam over and around the burrata.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped pistachios evenly over the top.
  5. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil.
  6. Season with flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  7. Add fresh basil or thyme, lemon zest, or a drizzle of hot honey if desired.
  8. Serve immediately with toasted bread, crostini, or crackers for scooping.

Notes

  • Substitute whipped ricotta or fresh mozzarella for the burrata if desired.
  • Use walnuts, pecans, or almonds instead of pistachios for a different flavor.
  • Try blackberry, strawberry, or orange marmalade for seasonal variations.
  • For a savory version, replace the jam with roasted tomatoes, pesto, olives, or caramelized onions.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 1 day and allow the burrata to come to room temperature before serving.
