Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 taco shells or small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened.
  3. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  4. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Stir well and simmer for 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Warm the taco shells or tortillas according to package directions.
  8. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture into each shell.
  9. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, and diced tomato.
  10. Serve immediately while warm.
