A creamy and fragrant milk tea made with bold black tea, milk, and delicate rose flavor. Serve it warm for a cozy floral drink or chilled over ice for a refreshing café-style treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup whole milk or plant-based milk
  • 1–2 tablespoons rose syrup
  • 1 teaspoon honey or sugar, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  • 1 teaspoon food-grade rose water, optional
  • 1 cup ice, for serving cold
  • 1 teaspoon dried edible rose petals, for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Bring 1 cup water to a boil and let it cool briefly. Place 2 black tea bags in a heat-safe container and pour the hot water over them.
  2. Steep the 2 tea bags in the 1 cup hot water for 4–5 minutes. Remove the tea bags without squeezing them excessively.
  3. While the tea is warm, stir in 1–2 tablespoons rose syrup. Add 1 teaspoon honey or sugar if additional sweetness is desired.
  4. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract and up to 1 teaspoon food-grade rose water, if using. For a milder floral flavor, start with 1/2 teaspoon rose water and add more to taste.
  5. For hot Rose Milk Tea, gently warm 1 cup milk in a small saucepan without boiling. Add the warm milk to the rose tea and stir until combined.
  6. For iced Rose Milk Tea, let the prepared rose tea cool. Fill a large glass or two smaller glasses with about 1 cup ice, divide the tea between the glasses, and add the 1 cup cold milk. Stir well.
  7. Garnish with up to 1 teaspoon dried edible rose petals if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use only food-grade rose water and edible rose petals.
  • Rose water can be strong, so start with a smaller amount and adjust to taste.
  • For Rose Milk Tea Boba, add freshly cooked tapioca pearls soaked in brown sugar or simple syrup.
  • For strawberry rose milk tea, add strawberry puree or strawberry syrup to taste.
  • For a dairy-free version, use oat, almond, soy, or coconut milk.
  • For rose green milk tea, replace the black tea with jasmine or green tea.
  • For stronger tea flavor, use an additional tea bag instead of significantly increasing the steeping time.
  • Store brewed rose tea without milk in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days. Milk tea can be refrigerated for 1–2 days.
