Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes to form a smooth roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Reduce heat to low and add cream cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  6. Add shredded cheddar cheese gradually, stirring until fully melted.
  7. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard if using.
  8. Mix until smooth and well combined.
