A hearty rice layered baked casserole made with fluffy rice, savory meat or chicken, rich sauce, and melted cheese. This comforting dish is perfect for family meals and easy to customize.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked rice
  • 1 pound ground meat or 2 cups shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce or cream sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: 1 cup mixed vegetables (bell peppers, peas, or carrots)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Add ground meat or shredded chicken and cook until browned or heated through.
  5. Stir in sauce and season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  6. In a greased baking dish, spread a layer of cooked rice.
  7. Add a layer of the meat and sauce mixture.
  8. Sprinkle a layer of cheese on top.
  9. Repeat layers, finishing with cheese.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until melted and slightly golden.
  12. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
