Raspberry Coulis is a smooth, vibrant fruit sauce made with raspberries, sugar, and a touch of lemon juice. This versatile sweet-tart sauce adds fresh flavor and beautiful color to desserts, breakfasts, and more.

Ingredients

  • Fresh or frozen raspberries
  • Granulated sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Water (if needed)
  • Vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the raspberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the raspberries soften and release their juices.
  3. Add a splash of water if the mixture becomes too thick.
  4. Simmer for 5 to 8 minutes until the fruit is completely softened.
  5. Blend the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender or a standard blender.
  6. Strain the sauce through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds for a silky texture.
  7. Allow the coulis to cool before serving or storing in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Add orange zest for a bright citrus twist.
  • Replace part of the raspberries with strawberries or blackberries for a mixed berry coulis.
  • Stir in vanilla extract for added depth of flavor.
  • Use honey or maple syrup instead of granulated sugar if preferred.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for a subtle warm spice note.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Freeze for up to 3 months in freezer-safe containers or ice cube trays.
  • Serve chilled, at room temperature, or gently warmed over desserts.
