Pistachio martini is a rich, creamy dessert-style cocktail combining vodka, pistachio liqueur, and a silky cream liqueur. A crunchy pistachio rim adds extra nutty flavor and an elegant finishing touch.

Ingredients

  • Vodka
  • Pistachio liqueur
  • Irish cream liqueur or white chocolate liqueur
  • Heavy cream or half-and-half
  • Simple syrup, optional
  • Ice
  • Shelled pistachios, finely crushed, for the rim
  • Honey or melted white chocolate, for the rim, optional

Instructions

  1. Chill a martini or coupe glass before preparing the cocktail.
  2. For a pistachio rim, finely crush the shelled pistachios and spread them on a small plate.
  3. Lightly coat the rim of the chilled glass with honey or melted white chocolate, then gently press it into the crushed pistachios.
  4. Fill a cocktail shaker generously with ice.
  5. Add the vodka, pistachio liqueur, Irish cream or white chocolate liqueur, and heavy cream or half-and-half.
  6. Add a small amount of simple syrup if additional sweetness is desired.
  7. Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds, until the cocktail is thoroughly chilled and creamy.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass.
  9. Garnish with additional finely chopped pistachios if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a good-quality pistachio liqueur for the most pronounced pistachio flavor.
  • Add simple syrup carefully because pistachio, Irish cream, and white chocolate liqueurs can already be quite sweet.
  • For a pistachio white chocolate martini, use white chocolate liqueur and melted white chocolate to prepare the pistachio rim.
  • Add a small spoonful of smooth pistachio cream for a richer texture and stronger nutty flavor.
  • For a coffee variation, add a small amount of chilled espresso to balance the sweet pistachio flavors.
  • Vanilla vodka can replace regular vodka for a more dessert-like flavor.
  • A tiny amount of almond extract can intensify the nutty character, but use it sparingly.
  • For a lighter cocktail, replace some or all of the heavy cream with milk or half-and-half.
  • The vodka and liqueurs can be combined and refrigerated ahead of time, but add the dairy and shake with fresh ice immediately before serving.
  • Serve immediately for the coldest, smoothest, and creamiest texture.
