Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice for especially bright citrus flavor, or use good-quality bottled juice for convenience.
  • Adjust the agave or simple syrup to make the drink sweeter or more tart.
  • Use unsweetened sparkling water and reduce or omit the sweetener for a less sweet version.
  • Salt provides a savory contrast on the rim, while granulated sugar creates a sweeter finish.
  • Cranberry juice, blood orange juice, pineapple juice, strawberries, or raspberries can be added for variations.
  • For a frozen version, blend the citrus juices, sweetener, and ice until smooth and slushy.
  • The citrus and sweetener mixture can be refrigerated in a covered container for up to 2 days.
  • Add sparkling water and ice immediately before serving to preserve the bubbles.
  • Reheating is not necessary.
