Ingredients

  • 1 French bread loaf, halved lengthwise
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded or sliced provolone cheese
  • 30 pepperoni slices
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons garlic butter or softened butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the French bread.
  3. Toast the bread for about 5 minutes to help keep it crispy.
  4. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over each bread half.
  5. Top with the mozzarella and provolone cheeses.
  6. Arrange the pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese.
  7. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  8. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Toasting the bread before adding toppings helps prevent a soggy crust.
  • Add cooked sausage, bacon, ham, mushrooms, peppers, onions, or olives to customize the pizza.
  • Drizzle with hot honey after baking for a sweet and spicy finish.
  • Assemble the pizzas several hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat in the oven or air fryer for the crispiest texture.
