Peanut Butter Milkshakes are thick, creamy frozen treats packed with rich peanut butter flavor and a sweet vanilla ice cream base. Ready in minutes, they make an easy dessert that can be customized with chocolate, banana, cookies, or roasted peanuts.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, plus more as needed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, optional
  • Whipped cream, optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped roasted peanuts, optional
  • Peanut butter, for drizzling, optional
  • Chocolate syrup, optional

Instructions

  1. Pour the cold milk into a blender first so the blades can move easily when the thicker ingredients are added.
  2. Add the vanilla ice cream, creamy peanut butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Blend briefly on low speed, then increase the speed and blend just until thick and creamy.
  4. Check the consistency. If the milkshake is too thick, add milk 1 to 2 tablespoons at a time and blend briefly.
  5. If the milkshake is too thin, add another scoop of firm vanilla ice cream and blend just until combined.
  6. Taste and add honey or maple syrup if additional sweetness is desired.
  7. For a decorative presentation, drizzle warmed peanut butter or chocolate syrup around the inside of two chilled glasses.
  8. Divide the milkshake between the glasses and garnish with whipped cream and chopped roasted peanuts if desired.
  9. Serve immediately while thick and frosty.

Notes

  • Use firm, very cold vanilla ice cream and add milk gradually to maintain a thick consistency.
  • Smooth creamy peanut butter produces the most uniform texture, while crunchy peanut butter can be used for small peanut pieces throughout the shake.
  • For Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshakes, add chocolate syrup or cocoa powder or substitute chocolate ice cream for vanilla.
  • For Peanut Butter Banana Milkshakes, blend in one ripe banana, preferably frozen for extra thickness.
  • For a cookie variation, blend in peanut butter cookies or chocolate sandwich cookies and leave some pieces slightly coarse.
  • A pinch of sea salt and chopped salted peanuts create a salty-sweet variation.
  • For a coffee-inspired version, add cooled espresso or a small amount of instant espresso powder.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture. Leftovers can be frozen, softened slightly, and reblended with a splash of milk.
