Pasta with Peas is a simple and comforting dish featuring tender pasta, sweet peas, garlic, and Parmesan cheese tossed in a light savory sauce. This quick and satisfying recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces pasta such as penne or shells
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups peas, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package directions.
  2. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining the pasta.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the peas and cook until heated through and tender.
  6. Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss gently.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese and a little reserved pasta water until a light sauce forms.
  8. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
  9. Toss everything together until evenly coated.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese before serving.
