Oreo Mug Cake is a quick single-serving microwave dessert made with crushed Oreo cookies, milk, and baking powder. It creates a warm, soft cookies-and-cream cake in about 5 minutes with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • Oreo cookies
  • Milk
  • Baking powder
  • Mini chocolate chips, optional
  • Extra crushed Oreo cookies, optional

Instructions

  1. Choose a microwave-safe mug with enough extra space at the top for the cake to rise while cooking.
  2. Place the Oreo cookies in the mug and crush them into fine crumbs with a fork.
  3. Pour in the milk and stir until the cookie crumbs soften and form a thick, mostly smooth batter.
  4. Stir in a small amount of baking powder to give the mug cake a lighter texture.
  5. If desired, gently stir mini chocolate chips or additional Oreo pieces into the batter.
  6. Microwave on high for 60 to 90 seconds, beginning to check the cake around the 60-second mark.
  7. Stop cooking when the top looks set and the center is cooked but still soft. Avoid overcooking, which can make the cake dry or rubbery.
  8. Let the mug cake rest for 1 to 2 minutes before eating because the cake and mug will be hot.
  9. Finish with additional crushed Oreo pieces or another favorite topping and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a microwave-safe mug with plenty of space above the batter to allow the cake to rise.
  • Microwave strengths vary, so begin checking for doneness after about 60 seconds.
  • For Chocolate Chip Oreo Mug Cake, stir mini chocolate chips into the batter before microwaving.
  • For a peanut butter variation, add a small spoonful of creamy peanut butter to the center of the batter.
  • For extra cookie texture, leave some Oreo pieces slightly larger and sprinkle additional crumbs over the finished cake.
  • For a cookies-and-cream topping, let the cake cool briefly before adding whipped cream and crushed cookies.
  • A small splash of vanilla extract can be added for additional sweet cream flavor.
  • Serve soon after cooking for the softest texture.
  • If storing leftovers, cover and refrigerate for up to 1 to 2 days and reheat very briefly in the microwave.
