No-Churn Frozen Yogurt is a creamy, tangy homemade frozen dessert made with Greek yogurt, whipped cream, sweetener, and vanilla without an ice cream machine. The easy base can be customized with fruit, chocolate, nuts, or other favorite mix-ins.

Ingredients

  • Full-fat Greek yogurt
  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Honey or maple syrup
  • Vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh berries or chopped fruit, optional
  • Mini chocolate chips, optional
  • Chopped nuts, optional

Instructions

  1. Begin with cold Greek yogurt and heavy whipping cream for the best texture.
  2. Place the heavy whipping cream in a large mixing bowl and beat until soft peaks form, taking care not to overwhip.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt.
  4. Taste the yogurt mixture and adjust the sweetness as desired, keeping in mind that freezing can make sweetness taste less pronounced.
  5. Gently fold the whipped cream into the yogurt mixture in batches using broad folding motions to retain as much air as possible.
  6. Fold in berries, chopped fruit, chocolate chips, or nuts, if desired.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a shallow freezer-safe container and smooth the surface.
  8. Cover the container tightly and place it in the freezer.
  9. Freeze for approximately 4–6 hours, or until firm enough to scoop.
  10. Let the frozen yogurt stand at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before serving to soften slightly for easier scooping.

Notes

  • Full-fat Greek yogurt produces a creamier texture, while lower-fat yogurt may result in firmer, icier frozen yogurt.
  • Avoid adding excessive amounts of watery fruit because additional moisture can encourage ice crystal formation.
  • For strawberry frozen yogurt, mix in strawberry purée and optionally swirl with strawberry preserves.
  • For blueberry frozen yogurt, use a concentrated blueberry compote to minimize excess moisture.
  • For a chocolate variation, add cocoa powder and finely chopped chocolate, with optional espresso powder for deeper flavor.
  • For peanut butter frozen yogurt, blend creamy peanut butter into the base and add mini chocolate chips if desired.
  • For a tropical variation, add mango purée and fresh lime zest.
  • Store tightly covered in the freezer for up to 1–2 weeks. Pressing parchment paper against the surface can provide additional protection from freezer air.
  • If the frozen yogurt becomes very firm, allow it to soften at room temperature before scooping rather than heating it.
