Nectarine roses are elegant pastries made by rolling thin slices of nectarines into rose shapes inside flaky puff pastry. They are lightly sweet, fruity, and visually stunning.

Ingredients

  • nectarines
  • puff pastry
  • sugar
  • apricot jam
  • lemon juice
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease a muffin tin.
  2. Cut nectarines in half, remove pits, and slice into very thin wedges.
  3. Place slices in a bowl with lemon juice and microwave briefly to soften.
  4. Roll out puff pastry and cut into long strips.
  5. Spread a thin layer of apricot jam over each strip and sprinkle lightly with sugar.
  6. Arrange nectarine slices along one edge of each strip, slightly overlapping with peel side facing up.
  7. Fold the bottom half of the pastry over the nectarines.
  8. Carefully roll each strip into a rose shape and place into the muffin tin.
  9. Bake for 35–40 minutes until pastry is golden and cooked through.
  10. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute nectarines with apples, peaches, or pears for variation.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • Use honey instead of sugar for natural sweetness.
  • Add a thin layer of cream cheese under the jam for richness.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in the oven to maintain crispness or microwave briefly for softness.
  • Freeze and reheat directly in the oven when needed.
