Mississippi Chicken is a rich and comforting slow-cooked dish featuring tender shredded chicken, savory seasonings, butter, and tangy pepperoncini peppers. This easy recipe delivers bold flavor with minimal effort and is perfect for family dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs
  • Ranch seasoning mix
  • Au jus gravy mix
  • Unsalted butter
  • Pepperoncini peppers
  • Pepperoncini juice (optional)
  • Garlic powder
  • Black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning and au jus gravy mix evenly over the chicken.
  3. Add the butter on top of the seasoned chicken.
  4. Arrange the pepperoncini peppers around and over the chicken.
  5. Add a splash of pepperoncini juice if desired.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  7. Once the chicken is tender, shred it using two forks directly in the slow cooker.
  8. Stir the shredded chicken into the cooking juices.
  9. Allow the chicken to sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
