Mediterranean Olive Oil Dip is a quick and flavorful appetizer made with extra virgin olive oil, garlic, herbs, and optional mix-ins like sun-dried tomatoes or olives. It’s perfect for dipping crusty bread or fresh veggies and adds a touch of Mediterranean flair to any gathering.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (high quality)
  2. 2 garlic cloves, minced
  3. 1 tsp dried oregano
  4. 1/2 tsp dried basil or Italian seasoning
  5. 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  6. 1/4 tsp salt
  7. 1/4 tsp black pepper
  8. 1 tsp balsamic vinegar (optional)
  9. 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  10. 2 tbsp finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes (optional)
  11. 2 tbsp chopped olives or capers (optional)
  12. 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or rosemary (for garnish)
  13. Crusty bread or pita, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow serving dish, pour the olive oil.
  2. Add garlic, oregano, basil (or Italian seasoning), red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Mix in any optional ingredients like balsamic vinegar, Parmesan, sun-dried tomatoes, or olives for added depth.
  4. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs.
  5. Serve immediately with crusty bread, pita, or vegetables.

Notes

  1. Use the best quality olive oil you can find—this is the foundation of the dip.
  2. If using fresh garlic, consume the dip within 24 hours or omit garlic for longer storage.
  3. Let the dip sit for 15–20 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
