Matcha Crinkle Cookies are soft and chewy with lightly crisp edges, coated in powdered sugar for their signature crinkled appearance. The earthy flavor of matcha pairs beautifully with the sweet coating, making these cookies perfect for tea time, holidays, or everyday treats.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Cover and refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop portions of dough and roll into balls.
  8. Roll each dough ball generously in powdered sugar until completely coated.
  9. Arrange on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  10. Bake for about 12 minutes, until the cookies have spread and developed crinkled tops while remaining soft in the center.
  11. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
