Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder, for garnish
  • Mini marshmallows (optional)
  • Cinnamon sticks (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  2. Whisk in the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add the chopped chocolate and stir until completely melted and the mixture is silky.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Add the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and stir gently until fully incorporated.
  7. Divide the hot chocolate among warmed mugs.
  8. Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder, and mini marshmallows if desired.
  9. Garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use high-quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate for the richest flavor.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the whiskey.
  • Add cinnamon, nutmeg, peppermint extract, or caramel sauce for seasonal variations.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat gently without boiling.
  • Whisk in a splash of milk when reheating if the hot chocolate thickens.
