This iced brown sugar latte with shaken espresso is a smooth, refreshing coffeehouse-style drink made with bold espresso, rich brown sugar, warm cinnamon, and creamy milk. It’s easy to make at home and perfectly balanced for a delicious morning or afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients

  • 2 shots freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup ice cubes, plus more for serving
  • 3/4 cup whole milk, oat milk, almond milk, or your favorite milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the espresso and let it cool for about 1 minute.
  2. Add the espresso, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract if using, and 1 cup of ice to a cocktail shaker or tightly sealed jar.
  3. Shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds until well chilled and lightly frothy.
  4. Fill a tall glass with fresh ice.
  5. Pour the shaken espresso over the ice.
  6. Slowly pour the milk over the espresso to create layered effects if desired.
  7. Gently stir before drinking or leave layered for presentation.
  8. Sprinkle with a pinch of ground cinnamon before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • Use strong brewed coffee or cold brew concentrate if an espresso machine is unavailable.
  • Oat milk creates an especially creamy dairy-free version.
  • Adjust the brown sugar to make the drink sweeter or less sweet.
  • Prepare the espresso mixture up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate before adding fresh ice and milk.
  • Add caramel sauce or pumpkin pie spice for seasonal variations.
