Homemade Salad Dressing is a simple and flavorful way to elevate salads, vegetables, and grain bowls using fresh ingredients and customizable flavors. This easy vinaigrette-style dressing is fresh, versatile, and far better than many store-bought options.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: fresh herbs
  • Optional: Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: yogurt
  • Optional: avocado
  • Optional: chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Add the olive oil, vinegar or lemon juice, Dijon mustard, honey or maple syrup, garlic, salt, and black pepper to a bowl or jar.
  2. Whisk vigorously until the dressing becomes smooth and combined.
  3. If using a jar, seal the lid tightly and shake well.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning or acidity as desired.
  5. Add optional herbs, cheese, or other flavor additions if desired.
  6. Serve immediately over salads or refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

  • Use balsamic vinegar for a richer and slightly sweeter vinaigrette.
  • Add Greek yogurt or avocado for a creamy dressing variation.
  • Fresh herbs such as basil, parsley, dill, or cilantro add bright flavor.
  • Shake or whisk well before serving, as separation is natural.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week in an airtight container.
