Honeydew Sago is a refreshing Asian dessert made with sweet honeydew melon, chewy sago pearls, and a creamy milk mixture. Light, fruity, and perfectly chilled, it is an ideal treat for warm days and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups honeydew melon, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup small sago pearls
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cup ice cubes (optional)
  • 1 cup extra honeydew cubes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  2. Add the sago pearls and cook, stirring occasionally, until mostly translucent, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let the sago sit for 10 to 15 minutes until fully transparent.
  4. Drain and rinse the cooked sago under cold water. Set aside.
  5. Place 3 cups of the honeydew cubes into a blender.
  6. Add the evaporated milk, coconut milk, and sweetened condensed milk.
  7. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  8. Transfer the honeydew mixture to a large bowl or pitcher.
  9. Stir in the cooked sago pearls until evenly distributed.
  10. Add the remaining honeydew cubes for texture.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until thoroughly chilled.
  12. Serve cold, garnished with extra honeydew cubes and ice if desired.

Notes

  • Use cantaloupe instead of honeydew for a different melon flavor.
  • Add watermelon or mango for a colorful fruit variation.
  • Substitute dairy-free milk alternatives for a dairy-free version.
  • Mix in nata de coco for additional texture.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Add a splash of milk before serving if the mixture thickens during storage.
