Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Optional: fresh basil
  • Optional: Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste.
  5. Stir well until combined.

  8. Reduce the heat to low and cook uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
