A hearty grinder sandwich loaded with layers of deli meats, cheese, crisp vegetables, and a tangy creamy dressing. This Italian-American classic is bold, satisfying, and perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 24 sub rolls or hoagie bread
  • 8 oz deli meats (salami, ham, turkey, or pepperoni)
  • 46 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups lettuce, shredded
  • 12 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice sub rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  2. Layer deli meats evenly inside each roll, followed by cheese slices.
  3. Optional: Toast in the oven or under a broiler until the cheese melts.
  4. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss shredded lettuce with some of the dressing.
  6. Add dressed lettuce to the sandwich, followed by tomatoes, red onion, and banana peppers.
  7. Drizzle extra dressing if desired.
  8. Close the sandwich, slice if needed, and serve immediately.
