Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • Pickle slices
  • Red onion slices (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, paprika, cayenne pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Coat the chicken thoroughly with the marinade and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.
  4. Grill the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Meanwhile, stir together the mayonnaise, hot sauce, sriracha, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, and paprika to make the spicy sauce.
  6. Lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill.
  7. Spread the spicy sauce on both halves of each bun.
  8. Assemble the sandwiches by layering the grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and red onion if desired on the buns.
  9. Serve immediately while the chicken is warm and juicy.

Notes

  • Top with pepper jack cheese or crispy bacon for extra flavor.
  • Add sliced avocado to balance the heat.
  • Use brioche buns for a softer, richer sandwich.
  • For a lower-carb option, serve the grilled chicken in lettuce wraps.
  • Store leftover chicken in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Assemble sandwiches with fresh toppings before serving.
