Ingredients
2 slices sourdough or artisan bread
2–3 slices cheddar, brie, Gruyère, or mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons cranberry sauce or cranberry jam
1 tablespoon softened butter
Instructions
Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
Place one slice of bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium-low heat.
Layer the cheese on the bread, then spread the cranberry sauce evenly over the cheese.
Add an extra slice of cheese if desired for a gooier sandwich.
Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side facing up.
Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, flipping carefully, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
Slice in half and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
Use brie for a richer flavor or cheddar for a classic taste.
Add sliced turkey, ham, or cooked chicken for a heartier sandwich.
Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard for extra tang.
Add fresh spinach or arugula for freshness.
Sprinkle chopped walnuts or pecans inside for added crunch.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat in a skillet or air fryer for the best texture.
Avoid reheating in the microwave, as it can make the bread soft.
