Greek tzatziki sauce is a cool, creamy, and refreshing dip made with yogurt, cucumber, and garlic. It’s a classic Mediterranean condiment perfect for pairing with meats, vegetables, or bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup grated cucumber (excess water squeezed out)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (or mint)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess moisture using a clean towel.
  2. In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, and minced garlic.
  3. Add olive oil, lemon juice, chopped dill or mint, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix well until smooth and evenly combined.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Strain regular yogurt if not using Greek yogurt for thicker consistency.
  • Squeeze cucumber well to prevent watery sauce.
  • Use mint instead of dill for a different flavor profile.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Stir before serving if liquid separates.
