Garlic Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy homemade rolls brushed with rich garlic butter for irresistible flavor. They make the perfect side for soups, pasta, holiday dinners, and family meals.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp additional melted butter, for brushing
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and let stand until foamy, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and flour, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape each into a smooth ball.
  6. Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise until puffy, about 20 minutes.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Mix the additional melted butter with the minced garlic and chopped parsley.
  9. Brush the warm rolls generously with the garlic butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Add shredded mozzarella or cheddar to the dough for cheesy garlic rolls.
  • Use roasted garlic instead of fresh garlic for a milder, sweeter flavor.
  • Season the garlic butter with Italian seasoning, rosemary, thyme, or red pepper flakes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze baked rolls for up to 3 months and thaw before reheating.
  • Wrap rolls in foil and warm in a 325°F (165°C) oven or microwave briefly before serving.
