Perfectly cooked fried eggs made in the air fryer with set whites and runny, jammy, or firm yolks, depending on your preference. No stovetop splatter, no flipping, and ready in about 8 minutes. Great on toast, rice bowls, avocado toast, or breakfast sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • Avocado oil or olive oil spray, or 1 teaspoon oil for greasing
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Seasonings:

  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika
  • Fresh chives, chopped

For Serving:

  • Toast, English muffins, or tortillas
  • Sliced avocado
  • Hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
  2. Lightly grease 4 silicone muffin cups, ramekins, or a small air fryer-safe pan with oil spray. You can also use a piece of perforated parchment, greased well.
  3. Crack each egg into a small bowl first, then gently slide it into a prepared cup so you can catch any shell pieces.
  4. Carefully place the cups in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed.
  5. Air fry for 3 to 4 minutes for runny yolks, 5 minutes for jammy yolks, or 6 to 7 minutes for fully set yolks. The whites should be opaque and set.
  6. Carefully remove the cups with tongs, since they will be hot. Sprinkle the eggs with salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings.
  7. Slide the eggs out of the cups and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Cooking times: Air fryers vary, so check at 3 minutes the first time and adjust. Eggs continue cooking slightly after removal.
  • Don’t skip greasing: A light coat of oil keeps the eggs from sticking so they slide out easily.
  • Crispy edges: Cook at 375°F (190°C) in a well-oiled pan with a bit more oil for lacy, crisp edges.
  • Light basket: Weigh down parchment with the cups or the eggs so it doesn’t fly up into the heating element. Never preheat with loose parchment.
  • Breakfast sandwich: Top an English muffin with a cooked egg, cheese, and bacon, and return to the air fryer for 1 minute to melt the cheese.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed fresh. Refrigerate leftover fully cooked eggs for up to 2 days and reheat in the microwave for 20 seconds.
  • Gluten-free, dairy-free, keto, and low carb as written.
