Classic French toast made with bread dipped in a rich egg mixture and cooked until golden brown. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it’s a comforting and satisfying breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add butter.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides without over-soaking.
  4. Place the coated bread onto the hot skillet.
  5. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  6. Remove from the pan and repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter if needed.
  7. Serve warm with toppings such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Use brioche or challah bread for a richer texture.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with plant-based alternatives.
  • Add orange zest or nutmeg for extra flavor variation.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Reheat in a skillet or toaster for best texture.
