Easy herb stuffing is a warm and savory side dish made with seasoned bread, aromatic vegetables, and fresh herbs for a comforting classic.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups bread cubes (day-old or slightly stale)
  • 4 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 1 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup celery (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast for about 10 minutes if not already stale.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter or heat olive oil over medium heat.
  4. Add onion and celery, cooking until softened.
  5. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Add parsley, thyme, and sage, mixing well.
  7. Transfer mixture to a large bowl with bread cubes.
  8. Gradually add broth, mixing until moist but not soggy.
  9. Season with salt and black pepper.
  10. Transfer to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  11. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and slightly crisp on top.

Notes

  • Add sausage, apples, or dried cranberries for variation.
  • Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
  • Add mushrooms for extra depth of flavor.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Add broth before reheating to keep it moist.
