These Easy Air Fryer Ribs are tender, juicy, and coated with a smoky spice rub and sticky barbecue glaze. They cook in a fraction of the time of traditional ribs, making them perfect for quick weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds baby back ribs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs if it is still attached.
  2. Cut the rack into portions that fit comfortably inside the air fryer basket.
  3. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and rub them lightly with olive oil.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper.
  5. Coat both sides of the ribs evenly with the seasoning mixture.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Place the ribs in the air fryer basket with the meat side down and cook for 20 minutes.
  8. Flip the ribs and cook for another 10 minutes.
  9. Brush both sides generously with the barbecue sauce.
  10. Return the ribs to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the sauce is sticky and caramelized.
  11. Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a spicy barbecue sauce or add cumin to the seasoning blend for extra flavor.
  • St. Louis-style ribs can be substituted if cut into portions that fit the air fryer.
  • For a sweet and spicy finish, drizzle the cooked ribs with hot honey.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 4 to 6 minutes to maintain a crisp exterior.
