Ingredients

  • 20 ounces refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • Water for cooking
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • Additional fresh dill, for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
  • Extra Parmesan cheese, for garnish (optional)
  • Cracked black pepper, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook the tortellini according to package directions until tender.
  3. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water, then drain the tortellini.
  4. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  5. Add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  7. Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice.
  8. Add the Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper.
  9. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  10. Add the chopped dill and mix well.
  11. Gently fold the cooked tortellini into the sauce.
  12. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  13. Toss until the tortellini is evenly coated.
  14. Garnish with additional dill, lemon slices, Parmesan cheese, and cracked black pepper if desired.
  15. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Fresh dill provides the brightest flavor, but dried dill may be substituted if needed.
