Ingredients
2 green plantains
1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1/8 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
Instructions
Cut off both ends of the green plantains, make a shallow slit along the peel, and remove the skin.
Slice the plantains into very thin, even rounds using a mandoline or a sharp knife.
Toss the slices with the oil and seasonings until evenly coated.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Arrange the plantain slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
Air fry for 10–12 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the chips halfway through cooking.
Watch closely during the final few minutes to prevent over-browning.
Transfer the chips to a cooling rack or plate and let them cool for a few minutes before serving for maximum crispness.
Notes
Add chili powder or cayenne pepper for a spicy version.
Season with ranch seasoning or smoked paprika for extra flavor.
Toss with grated Parmesan cheese after cooking for a savory variation.
Use ripe plantains with cinnamon and a light sprinkle of sugar for a sweeter version.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days and reheat in the air fryer at 325°F for 2–3 minutes if needed.
