A comforting pasta dish featuring a rich tomato sauce blended with cream and fresh basil for a smooth, flavorful finish. Perfect for a quick yet elegant meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta (penne, spaghetti, or your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, then stir in garlic.
  4. Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to deepen flavor.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
  6. Stir in heavy cream until smooth and well combined.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper.
  8. Add cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat and adding reserved pasta water as needed.
  9. Stir in fresh basil and mix well.
  10. Serve hot, topped with grated parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
  • Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or mushrooms for extra protein.
  • Include chili flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
