Creamy Jalapeño Sauce is a smooth, zesty condiment made with fresh jalapeños, creamy dairy, and bright lime juice. It’s a quick, flavorful sauce that’s perfect for tacos, burritos, grilled meats, vegetables, and dipping.

Ingredients

  • Mayonnaise
  • Sour cream
  • Fresh jalapeños, seeded for a milder sauce or left with seeds for extra heat
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Garlic cloves
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Ground cumin
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Roughly chop the jalapeños, removing the seeds and membranes if you prefer a milder sauce.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, sour cream, jalapeños, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, olive oil, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper to a blender or food processor.
  3. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Taste and adjust the seasoning, lime juice, or jalapeños to suit your preference.
  5. Cover and refrigerate the sauce for 20 to 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
  6. Stir well before serving.
  7. Drizzle over tacos, burritos, quesadillas, grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or use as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Substitute plain Greek yogurt for the sour cream for a lighter version.
  • Add a ripe avocado for an extra creamy texture.
  • Blend in a chipotle pepper in adobo sauce for a smoky flavor.
  • Mix in a little honey to balance the heat with subtle sweetness.
  • Add fresh parsley along with the cilantro for an herb-forward variation.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Stir before serving if slight separation occurs.
  • Do not freeze, as the creamy ingredients may separate after thawing.
