This Cranberry-Orange Mule Mocktail is a zesty, alcohol-free take on the classic Moscow mule, with tart cranberry juice, fresh orange, lime, and spicy ginger beer served over crushed ice. It’s bubbly, refreshing, and festive enough for any holiday gathering. Serve it in a copper mug with fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig for a pretty finishing touch.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz (90 ml) unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 2 oz (60 ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) honey syrup or simple syrup, to taste
  • 4 oz (120 ml) cold spicy ginger beer
  • Crushed ice
  • 1 lime wheel, for garnish
  • 1 orange slice, for garnish
  • Fresh cranberries and 1 rosemary sprig, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chill the mug: Fill a copper mug or highball glass with crushed ice to chill it.
  2. Mix the juices: Combine the cranberry juice, orange juice, lime juice, and honey syrup in the mug and stir well.
  3. Top with ginger beer: Slowly pour the ginger beer over the top and give it one gentle stir.
  4. Garnish: Add a lime wheel, an orange slice, a few cranberries, and a rosemary sprig. Gently slap the rosemary between your hands to release its aroma before adding.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately while bubbly.

Notes

  • Use a spicy ginger beer such as Fever-Tree or Reed’s for the best flavor. Ginger ale will be much milder and sweeter.
  • Choose unsweetened cranberry juice for a tart balance. If using cranberry juice cocktail, reduce or skip the syrup.
  • Honey syrup: stir equal parts warm water and honey until dissolved, then cool.
  • Batch for a party: mix 3 cups cranberry juice, 2 cups orange juice, 1/2 cup lime juice, and 1/2 cup syrup in a pitcher. Chill up to 8 hours. Add ginger beer to each glass just before serving.
  • For an adult version, add 1 1/2 oz vodka or bourbon to each drink.
  • Add a few thin slices of fresh ginger to the mug for extra heat.
