Ingredients

  • 4 slices sandwich bread or 2 rolls
  • 1 cup cooked chicken breast, sliced or shredded
  • 4 slices ham
  • 4 slices Swiss or provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • For the sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • a splash of lemon juice or vinegar
  • salt
  • black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, prepare the sauce by mixing mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and a splash of lemon juice or vinegar. Season with salt and black pepper, then set aside.
  2. Lay out the bread slices and spread a thin layer of the sauce on one side of each slice.
  3. Layer the cooked chicken evenly over the bottom slice, followed by the ham and cheese.
  4. Top with the second slice of bread and gently press down.
  5. Butter the outer sides of the sandwich.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in the pan.
  7. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted.
  8. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then slice and serve with extra sauce if desired.
