A fresh and colorful spring cheese board featuring creamy and firm cheeses, juicy berries, crisp vegetables, crunchy nuts, crackers, honey, and preserves. It is an easy no-cook appetizer for Easter, Mother’s Day, brunches, showers, and spring gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Brie, small wheel or wedge
  • Goat cheese
  • Cheddar, mild or sharp, sliced or cubed
  • Gouda, sliced or cubed
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Grapes
  • Raspberries
  • Cucumber, sliced into rounds
  • Radishes, thinly sliced or halved
  • Snap peas
  • Assorted crackers
  • Baguette slices, fresh or lightly toasted
  • Almonds
  • Pistachios
  • Honey
  • Fruit preserves, such as strawberry or apricot
  • Fresh herbs, such as rosemary, thyme, or mint
  • Food-safe edible flowers, optional

Instructions

  1. Choose a large serving board, platter, or tray with enough room for all of the ingredients.
  2. Place small bowls or ramekins on the board first and fill them with honey, fruit preserves, pistachios, or other small ingredients.
  3. Arrange the Brie, goat cheese, cheddar, and Gouda around the board, spacing them apart so each cheese becomes a focal point.
  4. Slice or cube some of the firmer cheeses for easy serving. Leave the Brie and goat cheese mostly whole and provide small cheese knives.
  5. Arrange the strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and small clusters of grapes around the cheeses.
  6. Add the cucumber slices, radishes, and snap peas throughout the board for fresh color and crunch.
  7. Arrange crackers and baguette slices in small stacks or curved rows between the cheeses and produce.
  8. Scatter the almonds and pistachios into smaller open areas.
  9. Place small serving spoons with the honey and preserves.
  10. Fill any remaining gaps with extra berries, nuts, or crackers until the board looks abundant.
  11. Finish with fresh herbs and food-safe edible flowers, if using.
  12. Serve shortly after assembling so the cheeses, fruit, vegetables, bread, and crackers maintain their best textures.

Notes

  • For an Easter version, add pastel chocolate eggs, small Easter candies, and bunny-shaped crackers.
  • For a fruit-focused board, add extra seasonal berries and fruit along with dried apricots or cherries.
  • For a savory variation, add olives, marinated artichokes, roasted peppers, pickles, and additional nuts.
  • For a Mediterranean-inspired board, use feta and goat cheese with cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, hummus, pita crackers, and fresh herbs.
  • Individual mini cheese boards or plates work well for brunches, showers, and more formal gatherings.
  • Only use edible flowers that are specifically grown and sold for culinary use.
  • To prepare ahead, wash and thoroughly dry the produce and portion the cheeses, then refrigerate them separately until assembly.
  • Refrigerate leftover cheese, cut fruit, and vegetables promptly. Store crackers and nuts separately at room temperature to keep them crisp.
